Carlos E. Mahoney was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated from Charlotte Catholic High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and the University of North Carolina School of Law. Mr. Mahoney received his J.D. in May 1999 and was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in August 1999. Mr. Mahoney has practiced law in Durham for more than 25 years since passing the Bar.

Mr. Mahoney is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, a Fellow in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, a Fellow in the International Society of Barristers, an Associate in the American Board of Trial Advocates, and has an AV Preeminent® peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America, North Carolina Super Lawyers, and Business North Carolina Legal Elite in the fields of personal injury, civil rights, commercial litigation, employment law, and general civil litigation, and has been selected to the Top 100 North Carolina Super Lawyers list.

Mr. Mahoney prosecutes and defends civil cases in the state, federal, and administrative courts of North Carolina on behalf of individuals, families, and small businesses. His practice areas include litigation involving Personal Injury and Wrongful Death, Civil Rights, Commercial and Business Law, Employment Law, Real Property, Trusts and Estates, Professional Malpractice and Licensing, and Insurance Coverage. Mr. Mahoney has tried more than 50 cases before juries, judges, and arbitrators, including over 25 civil jury trials, and he has handled more than 30 appeals during his career.

Mr. Mahoney, his wife, and two daughters live in Durham. He is a former North Carolina high school tennis champion and he has been inducted into the Charlotte Catholic High School Sports Hall of Fame.
