Mahoney Law, P.A. traces its legal roots back more than four decades when several prominent Durham trial attorneys started the firm. In 1999, after he was admitted to the State Bar, Carlos Mahoney began practicing law with the firm, which was then known as Glenn, Mills & Fisher, P.A. Mr. Mahoney became a partner at the firm a few years later and the name was changed to Glenn, Mills, Fisher & Mahoney, P.A. Over time, the three senior lawyers retired and the firm became Mahoney Law, P.A.

The firm’s attorneys have been deeply involved in legal and community service locally, statewide, and nationally. Mr. Mahoney has held leadership positions in numerous organizations including the American Civil Liberties Union, ACLU of North Carolina, Durham County Bar, North Carolina Advocates for Justice, and NC state committees for the American College of Trial Lawyers, International Society of Barristers, and American Board of Trial Advocates.

The firm’s office has always been in downtown Durham. In 2024, the firm moved to 514 S. Duke Street after Mr. Mahoney and his wife Jennifer purchased the historic Jourdan House. The Jourdan House is a Victorian-style two-story residence built in 1910. It is the sole residential building remaining along South Duke Street, north of Morehead Avenue, in downtown Durham from the early 20th century. The building is emblematic of Mahoney Law’s commitment to Durham and North Carolina.
